The property is located at the end of a private road, just beyond the seafront of Aberdovey from the Machynlleth direction on the main A493. You pass under the railway bridge as you leave Aberdovey, proceed past the Post Office on the right and the Village hall on the left, until you reach the bowls club where you turn right into Gwelfor Road. After 50 meters you turn sharp left into the unmarked private road, with Bodwennol being the last house straight ahead at the end of the road.

If you come from the Tywyn direction, you will pass the Golf Club on the right then opposite the bowls club you bear left into Gwelfor Road. After 50 meters you turn sharp left into the unmarked private road, with Bodwennol being the last house straight ahead at the end of the road.

There is space to fit at least 3 cars on the drive and allow turning space at the top of the driveway

There is a key safe next to the front door

PLEASE REPLACE ALL THE KEYS WHEN YOU LEAVE

Please remember to lock the doors, close windows and turn off all light switches, whenever you leave the property.

RUBBISH AND RECYCLING:

Household waste: The bins are located by the back gate – green for general waste and blue for recycling

APPLIANCES SUPPLIED:

There is a tumble washer / dryer machine in the utility room.

There is a toaster, Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine, kettle, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, oven and hob in the kitchen.

There is a digital tv and BT Sports provided in the main living space and SMART TV’s in all bedrooms.

There are hairdryers and wardrobe facilities in each bedroom

The Wi-Fi is called Penhelyg Terrace with a password of Penhelyg2sugar

ROOM BY ROOM

All bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided for you.

We’ll have asked you how you want the rooms set up when booking, but if your needs change, do let us know so we can organise the correct bedding.

Top Floor

Bedroom:

The top bedroom can be set up as Super King or as twin single beds. There are two small double sofa beds recommended for children only please ask if you need bedding for these please request before you arrive.

There is a bathroom with a bath and shower on the top floor.

There is also a dressing room which can house a travel cot again please request this before your stay if needed.

Ground Floor

The other three bedrooms are all on the ground floor comprising of a sea view double room and two other king size rooms.

Main Bathroom:

The bathroom has a very powerful rainfall shower operating at a lower pressure ensures the tray doesn’t overflow. Push the flush button in fully and hold for a few seconds it is a little stiff.

Balcony:

Take care with small children on the balcony please don’t allow them to climb on the chairs

Cloakroom:

The Cloakroom toilet is at the top of the stairs

Laundry:

The outside Laundry room contains a Washer /Dryer, iron and ironing board.

Kitchen:

There is a Smeg range style cooker with gas hob and electric ovens. There is also a full height American style fridge freezer with ice and filtered water.

There is a Nespresso Vertuo pod coffee machine if you want to bring pods with you.

There is also a dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster.

Please use anything that is in the cupboards and just replace anything substantial. If anything gets broken, please don’t worry but please just let us know so we can replace it for future guests

Living room area:

There is a SMART TV with BT Sports Package

There is a dining table and seating for up to 210 people within the living room space

Please remember to close and lock the sliding windows if you’ve had them open. Obviously, please be mindful of small children on the balcony and the sea garden.

Bathrooms:

Please feel free to use any toiletries whilst you are at the property. Please leave any towels on the floor when you leave.

Outside Patio:

A large outside dining table and chairs are available. Cushions are provided – please can you cover them  each night. 

If you do use the BBQ please clean it for the next guests.

Please clean up after your dogs and wash down afterwards.

EV Charger:

This is provided free of charge there is a white swipe card in the drawer in the hall. You will need to swipe in front of the charging unit to initiate the charge. Please ensure you replace this after use.

FUSE BOX is located under the stairs .

There are lots of great places to eat out, but you will have to book well in advance in the summer. Our favourites in Aberdovey are the Penhelig Arms in the fisherman’s bar and Seabreeze. The Coast Deli on the corner does great breakfasts and lunches as well as evening meals and it now has a sister business further along called Coast to Go serving a large selection of hot and cold food. 

If you want pub grub then the Dovey Inn and the Britannia both have decent menus. Our kids love The Fridge in the daytime for burgers, hot dogs nachos & shakes and of course the pink ice-cream shop with its many flavours is tremendous! The Medina Coffee Shop also has some great sandwiches and cakes. 

The fish & chip shop lets you eat in or take-away – be prepared to queue in the evening as it gets very busy in the peak times! There is an Indian restaurant the Bay of Bengal in the square that also does takeaways. They don’t have a liquor licence but you can take your own beer and wine and they only take cash. 

There are a number of good restaurants in Tywyn now – our favourite being The Salt Marsh Kitchen which has won several awards and across the road The Retreat is great for home-made burgers, pizzas and cocktails. 

For a very special treat, there is the Michelin Star award winning Ynyshir between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth and in Aberystwyth there is a fabulous Spanish deli & restaurant called Ultracomida.

If you want to do an online shop before you arrive, both Asda and Tesco deliver to Aberdovey, but we do like to support the local shops where possible. There is a reasonably well stocked shop on the front – Aberdovey Village Store – as well as a Post Office/ General Stores just past the railway bridge (the bridge you can see from the park at the end of the beach). There are 2 good sized Co-op stores – one in Machynlleth and one in Tywyn (the Tywyn store will deliver your shopping for you if you don’t want to bring it back yourself, – handy if you’re walking along the beach!) 

If you need cash, there is a cash machine by the pedestrian crossing in the village, but it charges for withdrawals. You can get free cashback at the Post Office (mentioned above) and we’re told that both The Dovey and Britannia both do cashback but we’ve never tried. The nearest Bank cash machine is Tywyn, then Machynlleth and Aberystwyth, as Barmouth have lost theirs now. 

The Coast Deli sells bread, eggs and milk as well as lovely cheeses etc and there’s a great butcher yards from the cottage – their Laverbread Sausage and Short-back bacon is delicious!.
Dovey Marine sell all sorts of beach stuff and hardware.

• Go crabbing on the jetty… bait is available at the butchers, the RNLI shop at the lifeboat station and the gift shops.

• Go to the Literary Institute (on the left-hand side on the way to the village centre – look for the anchor at the front) and read a book or use the free Wi-Fi overlooking the sea (wet days?)

• Go to the Craft Centre at Corris – there’s a Gin distillery, Welsh Jewellery shop, wooden crafts and children can make and paint pottery, candles and chocolate bars. There’s also an underwater boat ride through caves – King Arthur’s Labrynth (they don’t open in the winter months, so check online before you set off)

• Go to the Penhelig Arms and have a meal in the Fisherman’s bar.

• Walk The Roman Road – just walk turn left outside the gate until you reach a gate to the park, then walk along until you see a path along the cliff side, it’s such a pretty walk with Roman steps cut into the rocks up to picnic island.

• Enjoy a drink upstairs on the balcony at the Britannia Inn – watching the boats go by.

• Choose an ice-cream from the many flavours at the Pink ice-cream shop you can ask for half and half if you like!

• Walk along the beach to Tywyn – it’s around four miles there or get the train for around £2.30 return!

• Go to Magic Lantern cinema in Tywyn – it’s like stepping
back in time!

• In Tywyn, we love eating at the Salt Marsh Kitchen.

• Take the train to Harlech and see the castle and lovely little shops.

• Play Tennis, Crazy Golf, Shuffleboard, Table Tennis or Quoits at the municipal park in Tywyn.

• Eat at Blasau (The Royal House) in Machynlleth – lovely little black and white painted deli/coffee shop right by the crossing, just past the clock tower.

• Visit old curiosity shops (& Ian Snow shop) in Machynlleth.

• Go to swimming pool in Tywyn – they do family float fun sessions and a gym.

• Jump off the jetty (you’ve not really visited if you don’t do this!).

• Go and see the waterfalls at Dolgoch – you can pick up the Tal-y-Llyn railway in Tywyn to Abergynolwyn, which passes over the path to the falls. It’s a beautiful walk but not suitable for very small children or pushchairs as there are some steep drops.

• Go to the Honey Ice Cream shop in Tywyn.

• Have a latte at the Medina Coffee shop (up the little alley next to the Pharmacy) or No 8 which has nice little gifts.

• Go to Barmouth for the day (you can park at Fairbourne – follow signs for steam railway – & get the water taxi across the bay) – try the Mermaid Fish & Chip shop near the railway station. There is a great Indian restaurant at Fairbourne too.

• For bird enthusiasts & RSPB members there are a number of places to go –
– Just out of Machynlleth, on the road towards Abersytwyth is the Osprey Centre – the guides are very knowledgeable.
– 10 miles east of Aberystwyth on the A44 you can see the Red Kites being fed – 2 pm daily and 3 pm when it’s British Summer Time.
– There is a RSPB reserve at Yn-Y-Shir (also on the road from Machynlleth to Aberystwyth).

• Build a fire on the beach with driftwood at night & toast marshmallows or eat fish & chips.

• Have BBQ or picnic on the beach.

• Take the train to Minfford and visit Portmeirion – a great day out but no dogs allowed.
